Mikey Might

Mikey Might (from the album Bloomsburg to Bangladesh)

It happened in the schoolyard that day,
when Mikey and his friends went out to play;
They were playing their games; it was such a nice day.

Then came the bully boys,
with their bats and their other toys;
And they wanted to play, where Mikey was playing.

Mikey, Mikey he might
Mikey might not come home.

The bully boys came over to Mike, and said,
“Hey little boy, why don’t you take a hike?
This is where we play.” And they chased Mikey away.

Then Mikey said to them,
“You better watch, better watch your step,
I’ll be back someday, and you’ll be sorry!”

Mikey, Mikey he might
Mikey might not come home.

Then next week it happened again,
while little Mike was playing by the schoolyard fence.
Again they came; the bully boys wanted to play.

Then Mike said, “Come on over here,
I’ve got somethin’ to show you, got somethin’ you might like to
hear; that you might like to hear.”

And he pulled a switchblade out of his pocket,
and he shoved it in the bully boy’s eye-socket.
And now he’s dead; now the bully boy is dead.

Mikey, Mikey, he might. Mikey, Mikey, might.
Mikey, Mikey, he might. Mikey might not come home.

Mikey might not come home, Mikey might be in jail alone.
Mikey might not come home, Mikey might be in jail alone.
