Chaos Rise Up

New Songs

New songs are on the way, though listeners may be surprised at some of the results…

There are two distinct collections of songs developing right now. One set consists of 12 songs related stylistically to Mandala, though with more electronic elements and edgier topics (no love songs or lost love songs, sorry). While Mandala had a live drummer, there hasn’t been time/space to organize that element lately. Yet, I feel like these songs deserve a live drummer, and I am exploring some options. So for now these songs wont be released until I can give them the attention they deserve (not likely until 2010). I am trying to focus on school and have a busy summer ahead in 2009.

The other collection of songs, or rather ongoing experiments, has to do with my ever-expanding study of sound science, electronic music, randomness, found objects and noise. The result has been a return to the Zen-like innocence and freedom of my early recording days where making interesting sounds and atmospheric ambient platforms was the goal (very few lyrics). It’s pure fun, and I think it shows in the results. You can hear samples of this material on this site now in a number of places:
– The main page background audio loop (throughout Shivasongster).

– My weekly audio experiments

With CDs going out of style so quickly, it has crossed my mind that perhaps my next release will be digital only. If you have thoughts on this, let me know.
